Tower Class/Reformer

This class is taught by:

Annalee Traylor

Annalee Traylor was first introduced to Pilates as a form of cross training for dancers during her time in high school at the North Carolina school of the Arts. She went on to receive her BFA with honors in dance performance from Point Park University and since, has been dancing professionally. She quickly found that fitness, in particular Pilates, Barre, and Yoga was a perfect complement to her lifestyle and decided to share her knowledge and passion for wellness with others. She became certified in Power Vinyasa Yoga in 2011 through Yoga Alliance and in 2013, she was certified in Tracy Mallet's "The Booty Barre". Since relocating to Los Angeles to expand her dance career, her interest in Pilates was reignited after teaching at a studio alongside classically trained Pilates instructors. Incredibly inspired by the detail and quality of the method and instruction, she decided to embark on the long, rigorous, yet extremely rewarding journey training through the prestigious Romanas Pilates.

Jenn Cybulski

Jennifer began her Pilates experience in college while studying dance in 1998. A former gymnast with old injuries, she found Pilates to be the only form of movement to strengthen her deep muscles and relieve her of any pain resulting from those old injuries. She knew right away that she wanted to share her knowledge of Pilates with everyone and began her Pilates training in Philadelphia and New York, while still attending college. Jennifer was awarded a scholarship and certified by The New York Pilates Studio in 2002. Since then, she has participated in numerous continuing education workshops and taken many lessons with Romana Kryzanowska, Brooke Siler, Brett Howard, Kathi Ross-Nash and many other well-known teachers. Jennifer was a professional dancer in Philadelphia for 10 years and has also performed circus arts for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. She also was part of the adjunct faculty at Montgomery County Community College, teaching Pilates for the past five years. In 2010, Jennifer opened the only Pilates studio in Manayunk (a section of Philadelphia), 6 Keys Pilates. Since 2010, her studio has been in the top 3 Best Pilates studio’s in Philadelphia, winning number one in 2012. She has been featured on the ION network, written about on many websites and blogs and sought after because of her attention to the body’s needs.

In Januaury 2014, Jennifer became a Teacher of Teachers with the United States Pilates Association (USPA) working closely with Brett Howard of the Pilates Haus in Jersey City New Jersey. Since becoming a Teacher of Teachers, she has guided many apprentices through the rigorous Pilates training sharing her knowledge and passion of the work. Jennifer still takes lessons and workshops to better her own practice and knowledge of Pilates.

Jennifer is thankful the universe brought her to Uprise and looks forward to teaching anyone who wants to learn.

Lisa Orraca

The youngest daughter of a professional dancer Lisa began ballet and figure skating at the age of 4. Lisa found her calling on the ice, and quickly fell in love with the combination of power, grace and speed that encompasses the competitive sport of figure skating, growing up on the ice training with former Olympic coaches at New York City’s Ice Studio and The Sky Rink.

After a knee injury at the age of 15, Lisa was first introduced to Pilates as part of Physical Therapy. She quickly embraced this new method of movement and took classes throughout New York City for the following 10 plus years. Encouraged by one of her Pilates trainers to get certified to teach, Lisa completed a 6 month Classical Pilates training program in New York City in 2009 and has been teaching ever since.

Sheena Jongeneel

Sheena Jongeneel, UpRise Founder and President, has been involved in the health industry since 1993. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from California State University Fullerton, and she began studying Pilates due to a knee injury. After college Sheena moved to NY to become certified in the Pilates Method of Body Conditioning. She had the opportunity to study under, and get certified by Master Teacher Romana Kyrzanoska, sole heir to the authentic Pilates Method. Sheena has now been teaching Classical Pilates for the past 13 years. Prior to founding UpRise in Santa Monica, she owned a Pilates studio in Newport Beach in 1998, which she sold in 2006 to move to Los Angeles. Looking to integrate a complimentary alternative method of rehabilitation to Pilates, Sheena discovered the Healing Arts of Oriental Medicine. She studied at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica and is also a California State licensed Acupuncturist. UpRise was born out of a passion and desire to continue the true work of Joseph Pilates. Sheena wanted to create a studio where the integrity of his work would remain pure and authentic. She also wanted to integrate her Acupuncture practice to offer a holistic health and wellness program at a single location.
